Kara Kasten's second goal of the year was all Auburn's soccer team needed to defeat UAB 1-0 on Sunday night at the Auburn Soccer Complex.

Kasten scored on a breakaway in the 56th minute off of a feed from Gabi Rivera. It was her second goal of the season and third game-winning goal of her career.

"Gabi gave me a great ball and I was able to hold off the defenders and get a quality shot off," Kasten said.

The Tigers moved to 2-0 on the season. The start a four-game road trip Friday at Missouri.

Auburn took 20 shots and UAB 11, but until Karsten's breakaway, neither team had anything to show for it.

"You have to give UAB a lot of credit," Auburn coach Karen Hoppa said. "They kept battling right until the very end. Our defense really stepped up tonight,  and you have to give our back line a lot of credit for keeping them off the board."
