Running back Michael Dyer announces his intention to sign with Auburn/Matt Nascone
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Under Armour All-America running back Michael Dyer had no hesitation in his voice when he declared his commitment to Auburn on Friday morning.

Dyer, a 5-star (86) from Little Rock Christian Academy, picked Auburn over Tennessee, Arkansas and Ole Miss at a press conference at his school.

“I have been waiting for this moment for a long time," said Dyer, ranked as the nation's top running back prospect by ESPN/Scouts Inc. "There has been a lot of talk, but the place I will be attending will be ... Auburn. I chose to be a part of that team and go try to have a good life there. Auburn is where that is. War Eagle.”

Dyer said the coaching staff at Auburn had him sold from his first visit last spring.

“Coach (Curtis) Luper, Coach (Gus) Malzahn and Coach (Gene) Chizik are great leaders, like my coaches here,” Dyer said. “The players are respectful of their coaches and they all have a bond that some schools don’t have.”

Dyer said that family-like bond is what he liked about Auburn. He said it reminds him of his years at Little Rock Christian.

“Since I have been here at Little Rock Christian, we have had a great team, but we have had a better bond,” he said. “We have a better friendship and respect for one another. Auburn has that same feeling, and that is what I look for in a school.”

There are aspects to like at every school, Dyer said. But he said Auburn has the complete package.

“Every school is great and has a lot of things to offer,” Dyer said. “There are schools that have great academics, have great players and coaches and have beautiful women. You just have to take it all in and see what is best.

"I always go to the coaching and the players to make my choice and (Auburn) has what I am looking for. It has been a great deal.”
