Eric Mack announces he will sign with Auburn/Phillip Marshall

For offensive guard Eric Mack, the journey to signing day was a grind. He declared Auburn his favorite early, committed to South Carolina, wavered and finally committed to Auburn.

An Under Armour All-American from Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews, S.C., Mack encountered a storm of criticism when he abanoned the home-state Gamecocks for Auburn.

Wednesday, he brought it all to an end whenhe signed with Auburn.

"It really doesn't bother me what people say about me," Mack said. "It did not aggravate me at all. I was just happy when I got to tell everyone where my heart really was."

Mack said he is eager to get his college career started.

"I am really looking forward to getting my college education," Mack said. "That is the first thing I will always worry about. I am glad I am now officially an Auburn Tiger.

"It feels good to get all of this recruiting stuff out of the way. Now I am focused on finishing my senior year and getting to Auburn."
