Two of Auburn's linebacker commitments will face each other in the first round of the Alabama 6A state playoffs Nov. 6.

Pelham and Jake Holland will travel to take on LaDarius Owens and Jess Lanier in Bessemer. The two teams met in a spring game, and Jess Lanier won the varsity portion, the first three quarters, 20-7.

Owens told us he is ready for the game.

“We get Jake in the first round and it should be another great game,” Owens said. “It is a rematch. I know they have been playing good and they almost beat Hoover last week. But we will be ready.”

Holland popped his shoulder out of its joint last week and also sprained his knee, but he said he was not going to come out when his team was playing Hoover tight. Pelham lost the game 21-14. Holland will not play in Pelham's game against Hillcrest on Friday, but he said he will be back for the playoffs.

“I will be out there, and it should be an interesting game at their place,” Holland told us.
